Forth Structure Plan

Forth is a charming village on the River Forth, with a unique location that blends rural living and convenience, only 3.5km from the coast.

To bolster the village of Forth, the plan takes advantage of the natural beauty of the riverfront as a village focal point. A gentle increase of homes on smaller lots will support workers, business and community activity.

New homes will need to comply with tailored design guidelines that reflect local character. For example:

  • Minimum subdivision lot sizes, to balance a need for more homes while keeping a semi-rural feel.
  • Tree planting requirements, to continue Forth's landscape character and canopy cover.
  • Character considerations, for colours, materials, and front fences, to continue Forth's look and feel.

The draft Forth Structure Plan (see image below) includes three areas:

  • Residential Incremental: A gentle increase in homes with a minimum lot size of 800m2 where it can be serviced with sewer and water (otherwise 1500m2).
  • Residential Expansion: As Forth continues to grow, this area will allow greenfield development of low density, detached homes.
  • Residential Minimal: These areas will generally remain the same. However, this does not mean no change and there will be some new homes in the future.

Water and sewer infrastructure investment is needed for the plans in Forth, and we have consulted with TasWater in preparing these draft plans.
